The competition will take place in Santa Cruz Island and starts with swimming from Itabaca Channel at the north of the island.
The participants swim 1,5 Km, cycling 40 Km and run 10 Km.
These distances turn the competition in an Olympic distances Triathlon according to the ITU standards.
The competition have five stages:
1. Swim: 1.5 km
2. Transition 1
3. Cycling 40 km
4. Transition 2
5. Athletics October Kms
Swimming: It starts in Santa Cruz Island ramp, in north-northwest way to marker buoys in Baltra, where it turns south-southwest back to buoys in Santa Cruz and finally returns to the starting platform, describing a triangle of 500 meters. per side. Current is expected to be from the east side of the channel.
The sea surface temperature in the central islands of the archipelago has risen and is between 20C.
Cycling: It will only be allowed to use road bikes, triathlon and mountain bike, tandem bikes are prohibited.
Race: Competitors will complete 10 km on Route Walks Puerto Ayora. The circuit includes two rounds of 5 kms each. The route goes from the gas station on the island, past the Parque San Francisco Bellavista Park to the Galapagos National Park Garita, such as described in the map below.
